Because the intensive isn't "real life" - we strongly advise couples to have follow-up therapy to transfer the work you do together during the 3 days to your actual life. You want to feel confident about applying your moves toward each other in the throes of work/kids! We’re happy to help secure a follow-up therapist. If your intensive therapist has availability and you’re local - they can be your follow-up therapist.
If you’re coming from out of town, we can help you find an EFT therapist in your area. If there isn’t one - we’ll help you find an EFT therapist with ability to do virtual sessions.
Some couples decide to continue their work by doing one-day intensives each month. We’ve found this to be an excellent way to make sure the work you did during the 3-day intensive doesn’t get lost.
Intensives are a bit like a bubble. It’s what we need to get momentum to make progress, but you also need to be able to apply what you learned once you go back to all your responsibilities. Your daily life is where you’ll feel the results of the intensive, but it’s also where you’ll realize some places that need continued attention.
An intensive alone isn’t going to save your marriage. It’s not magic. If you are willing to commit to the intensive and follow up work - it’s well worth the investment. To have a new relationship with each other is the best feeling. And, as you navigate your new relationship together you’ll start to feel what it’s like to come back together after a misstep. It just keeps getting more secure. Eventually, you’ll wean off of follow up work.
